At the western edge of India, amidst the dry and parched region of the Thar, lies a hidden gem for Astrophotography .
Join me in the Desert for 4 Nights of Shooting the night sky that is harly ever seen from the bright glow and light polluted city skies

I know, not everyone knows how to shoot the night sky and with me its not just a theory session or watching a You tube video
1- Know your Camera
How to setup your camera in the night time and dial in ideal settings depending on the scene in front of you. Sometimes people just straight up ask me in the comments, a single word "Settings?" as if there is one magic setting for every photograph. No that's not how it works. Every scene will be different and you should have the knowledge to change the settings for every location
2-Understand basic processing skills
Astrophotography is a different skill set than Street or Wildlife, its as much your processing as it shooting in the field. I shall teach you basic processing skills in Lightroom and Photoshop that will make your Astro images "pop" and stand out. We will start with basic processing but don't expect to match your favorite creator in just day! Have patience and if needed you can join the Advanced processing course when you are ready.
3- Off trip support
Our trip has both, a pre tour online meetup and a post tour online meetup where I shall help with your doubts and clarifications, from helping you choose the right gear to critiquing your work post tour, you shall have access to me for a month post tour to help you with the small things
Tentative Itinenary*
In this tour, we will not be moving from place to place and have a singlebase to stay throughout the tour
Day1/Night1
- Arrival at Stay on your own/pickup from Jaisalmer Railway Station(Location will be shared post payment confirmation)
-Tea time meetup and introduction session.
-First night shoot and session
Day2/Night2
- Image critique session and pre plan for the night
-Travel to 2nd location for shooting in the night
Day3/Night3
-Review images from previous day and have an image processing session if time permits
-Have a local outing to Jaisalmer if time permits
-Travel to 3rd Location for shooting in the night
Day4/Night 4
-Review images and Plan final session
-Travel to 4th Location for shooting in the night
Day5-
Trip ends, Drop to Jodhpur/depart on your own

Gear-
DSLR/Mirrorless camera
* While we don't recommend mobile phone cameras, if you insist that it works fine for you, it is entirely your decision. Please do remember we wont be able to swap it out mid-tour*
Good tripod
Wide angle Lens
Prime lens(recommended but not required)
Star Tracker(recommended but not required)
Extra batteries, Charegers and Powerbanks as required
Clothing-
Warm jacket + Hoodie/sweater
Secure bags for all your gear
Health requirements-
Must be in relative good health.
Medications for Asthma/ BP/Insulin/ Epilepsy or any other essential medication that is essential to you.
Any complications will result in an immediate suspension of your trip. Your health and your life is more important than the trip.
*Please remember that I am not an equipment rental provider and I am not responsible for making sure you bring all of your photography gear, I can help in choosing and give informed opinions on what to get and what not to get but I cannot provide Cameras, Flashes, tripods, memory cards, laptops and HDD's on the field. I am there to guide and help in whatever capacity I can but I cannot give you a piece of gear that you did not account for.

Hi, I'm Vikram Virulkar
I started on my journey to capture the night skies because I needed good photographs to show people how my stargazing sessions work. Little did I know that it would in turn spark a insatiable desire to take amazing pictures of the night sky. Just like my passion for the stars resulted in me taking sessions for Stargazing across India, I realized I also want to share my knowledge and my passion for Astrophotography.
Not only shall I help you take better overall pictures but also teach you to not commit the same mistakes I did on my journey which I believe to the most important takeaway for an instructor, to make sure his participants learn from his mistake.
If you have shot Wildlife or Landscape, Portraits or Street. Fashion or Product. Astrophotography is undeniably within your reach. Its unique challenges and serene field work are well, "Out of this world"
